Fishtown FC

“Not a Kit for Suckers”

Fishtown FC was founded in 2017 by Phil Imhof and Jon Turner, two friends who - like many of us - were looking for an excuse to play soccer and drink beer.

Although they originally intended for Fishtown FC to be a clothing brand, the pair began to host pick-up soccer games to connect those who love the sport, and have since built up a squad that plays in competitive matches. They now find themselves battling each weekend in the 4th division of Philadelphia’s Casa Soccer League, but they haven’t lost their liking for stylish clothing.

The club first collaborated with Icarus on a set of Germany ‘90 x Fishtown jerseys following the United States’ failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. The pair felt compelled to do something to support grassroots soccer and these jerseys proved to be a hit, raising over $3,600 for local youth soccer organizations.

Since 2017, Icarus and Fishtown FC have collaborated on numerous other occasions and we decided to profile two of our favourite efforts here.

For Playing Soccer

Our most recent Fishtown FC jersey uses an original teal and black colour scheme for an absolutely classic design.

The retro font on the back of the shirt pairs well with the shirt’s traditional aesthetic, while the colourful fish-scale inspired goalkeeper kit follows in the footsteps of the many goalie kit masterclasses/disasterclasses of the 1990s.

THE JOGGERS

For Drinking Beer

Drawing upon the club’s colours, Icarus produced a set of custom cotton fleece joggers with zipped pockets, tapered cuffs, and embroidered logos.

As with all Fishtown FC gear, a portion of sales are donated. The purchase of these joggers raises money for AC Fairhill, a youth academy in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia.

They’re still on sale, so follow the link below if you’d like to pick up a pair for yourself!
